I’ve lived here for 10 months and have had next to no need for a car since moving and love it.

The Carbon Impact of Insulation graphic was used with permission from https://www.buildersforclimateaction.org/
They are the owners and you would need to seek permission for use directly from them.
It is a great org. Check them out.

Comment on The Elephant in the Room: Deconstruction Reduces Embodied Carbon by Ted Reiff https://zeroenergyproject.com/2024/07/17/the-elephant-in-the-room-deconstruction-reduces-embodied-carbon/#comment-3495 Thu, 18 Jul 2024 23:07:50 +0000 https://zeroenergyproject.com/?p=12879#comment-3495 The entire industry spends more time on carbon (which in many cases is a very useful element – think of carbon chains. While you addressed embodied energy and explained it quite well, the majority of people relate to the word energy more than they do carbon. My suggestion is to emphasize embodied energy with examples and do away with carbon unless it is used in technical papers. Further embodied energy is easier to measure than carbon.

Comment on Cost-Effective Retrofits: 7 Steps to Zero Energy by Kelly KC's https://zeroenergyproject.com/2023/07/05/cost-effective-retrofits-7-steps-to-zero-energy/#comment-3394 Fri, 28 Jun 2024 07:13:51 +0000 https://zeroenergyproject.com/?p=12611#comment-3394 Hey there! If you’re looking into retrofits for your home to make it zero energy, here’s a cooling tip that’s easy to overlook but can make a big difference: consider installing window films or solar screens on your windows. These additions work by blocking a significant portion of the sun’s heat from entering your home through the windows, which can dramatically reduce the amount you need to run your AC. This simple upgrade can help keep your home cooler naturally, cutting down on your energy use and your bills. Plus, it’s a relatively low-cost improvement compared to other energy-saving retrofits, and it’s something you can even DIY over a weekend!
