Uma Thurman and Samuel L Jackson reunite for their first screen appearance together since Kill Bill Vol 2. In a dark knockabout satire, Thurman plays a struggling gallerist who allows Jackson's criminal to launder money through her gallery by selling off the artwork of his killer henchman (Joe Manganiello). All goes to plan until the henchman becomes art's next big thing, and he switches into making some very disturbing conceptual pieces. The flakes of the art world line up for a kicking in this lightly Tarantino-esque jaunt, with Thurman and Jackson playing to their strengths - she icy, he wisecracking. Too many gangsters bog things down towards the end, but Nicol Paone's film has pace and smarts, and will appeal to anybody who reckons modern art is all a big con.
