The Ryder Cup is laced with spice in 2023 as Team Europe and Team USA prepare to battle for the ultimate prize in golf once again.

Team USA boast bragging rights after wiping the floor with their European counterparts in 2021. The 19-9 margin of victory was the widest since the modern format was introduced in 1979.

Captains Luke Donald and Zach Johnson have selected their troops for battle, with more than an ounce of tension hanging in the air following the tumultuous period for golf since the last edition.

The PGA Tour versus LIV Golf turbulence led to Henrik Stenson being stripped of his Team Europe captaincy after departing the former for the latter.

Stenson, Ian Poulter, Lee Westwood and Sergio Garcia – all stalwarts of Team Europe – are not included in the team after forgoing their DP World Tour membership, a prerequisite for being part of the team.

Brooks Koepka is the only LIV Golf player to feature in the 2023 Ryder Cup after being selected as a Captain's Pick by Johnson.

Seven of the last eight editions have been won by the host nation, a run stretching back to 2004. Europe's 2012 victory at Medinah was the last time a visiting side clinched victory.
